🌅🚗 Sunset, Stories & Origins: Mech Minis at Herne Hill

4 January 2026 — Herne Hill, Swan Valley.

As the sun dropped behind the trees and the heat of the day began to ease, Mechanical Miniatures was proud to be part of another classic Western Australian car event.

Sunset at Herne Hill, organised by the EH Holden Car Club of Western Australia.

Set in the heart of the Swan Valley, this event delivered exactly what it always does, a relaxed, family-friendly atmosphere, great cars, and a genuine sense of community.'

🍻 A Relaxed Vibe Done Right

One of the things that makes Sunset at Herne Hill so special is the vibe. After a hot summer day, having the bar right next to the show meant everyone could grab a drink, wander through the cars, and settle into easy conversations without any rush.

Kids, families, long-time enthusiasts and first-timers all mixed together, no ropes, no pressure, just people enjoying cars and company as the evening cooled down. It’s the kind of meet that reminds you why local events matter so much.

🎁 Giving Back to the Community

Mech Minis was proud to donate a VN Group A LEGO® kit as part of the prize pool for the event. The kit was included among the prizes awarded to those lucky enough to receive a golden ticket in their entry show bag.

Congratulations to the lucky winner, we hope you enjoy building it as much as we enjoyed creating it.

Supporting events like this and contributing to prize pools is something we genuinely value. It’s about giving back to the community that continues to support us.

🧱 From Display to Storytelling

This event gave us the perfect opportunity to display the LEGO® kits in all their glory — engines cycling, details on show, and plenty of curious onlookers stopping to take a closer look.

We also brought along my personal car — and in many ways, the car that started this whole journey.

From the real car came the idea to build a LEGO version. From the LEGO version came the engine. From that engine came Mech Minis.

Standing there at sunset, watching people move between the full-size car and the miniature builds, it was hard to tell which one was getting more attention.

🏁 A Rolling Showcase of Variety

As always, the variety of cars on display was a real treat. One of the joys of Sunset at Herne Hill is simply walking the rows, or catching glimpses as cars roll past, and seeing just how diverse the builds are.

From beautifully restored classics to tough street cars and everything in between, there was no shortage of machines worth stopping for. Even a quick drive-through of the event delivered standout moments, and we couldn’t help snapping a few photos of the cars that caught our eye along the way.

We’ve shared a handful of those highlights here proof that whether you’re parked up or cruising past, there’s always something special to see at this event.

💬 Final Thoughts

Sunset at Herne Hill wasn’t just another car meet — it was a reminder of how ideas grow. From a single car, to a LEGO build, to an engine, to a brand built around mechanical storytelling.

Thank you to the EH Holden Car Club of Western Australia for organising another fantastic event, and to everyone who stopped by, had a chat, or shared a moment as the sun went down.

This is what it’s all about.

🧱 Build it. Understand it. Display it.🌅🚗

From real steel to LEGO engineering.
